Required Vaccines

New Vaccination Requirements

There are new vaccination requirements that became effective
on June 1 st 2012 for all 7th grade students and 12th grade students entering school this school year.

The following immunizations will be required:

Students entering 7th grade must show proof of a booster dose of
Tdap vaccine, which protects against tetanus, diphtheria, and
pertussis and a dose of the meningococcal vaccine.

Students entering 12th grade must show proof of a single dose of
Tdap vaccine, which protects against tetanus, diphtheria, and
pertussis and a booster dose of the meningococcal vaccine, if the
first dose of meningococcal was given before the child's 16th
birthday. If the first dose was given after the 16th birthday, then a
booster dose of meningococcal is not required.

Since West Virginia state law will not allow our middle schools or
high schools to accept students that cannot show proof of these
immunizations, we strongly encourage that you contact your family doctor or the Hancock County Health Department at 304-564-3343 for further information.
